FAQ

Why should I walk?

Walk because you believe that every animal deserves the love of a forever family. This year Brother Wolf is on target to help over 6,000 animals via our adoption, foster, trap-neuter-return, and transport programs. And with your help we will assist thousands more via our pet food pantry, our “Help Me Heal” and “Help Me Learn” funds, and our spay/neuter assistance. The funds raised at this event will help Brother Wolf continue this critical work in our community.

Is this event kid friendly?

Yes! This is a family-friendly event and includes fun activities that the kids can enjoy.

Is this event dog friendly?

Yes! We encourage you to bring your four-legged friends with you as long as they do well in a large event environment that will include many dogs and people. We even have fun activities for your dog to participate in at the event.

Please note that all dogs must be leashed, well behaved, and up-to-date on their shots.

Do I have to walk with a dog? Can I walk with a Brother Wolf dog?

You are not required to bring a dog with you; many people at the event will be walking without dogs.

If you have taken the proper volunteer training classes and are cleared by Brother Wolf to pick up a dog from the Adoption Center and take them on an outing, we welcome you to make the Walkathon your outing for the day! Please make sure to coordinate this with our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@bwar.org. And let the Adoption Center staff know where you are taking the dog so that they can make sure you take a dog who would enjoy an event environment.

Where is the Eliada Corn Maze?

Located just five minutes from downtown Asheville, the Eliada Corn Maze is located at 2 Compton Drive. It can be a little tricky to find with your GPS so make sure to look for Brother Wolf signs on the day of the event.

Eliada is a local non-profit organization that works to help kids and families in need.

Are strollers allowed?

The event takes place at the Eliada Corn Maze, which is not a paved area. We welcome strollers, but warn you that you will be on grass/dirt at the event.

What food will be available at the event?

A local food truck will be in attendance offering lunch and drinks for sale.

What is a red carpet costume contest?

We roll out the red carpet for you! Show off your creative costumes as you groove to the music and walk the red carpet. Judges choice awards will be distributed.

How long is the walk?

The walk weaves through the corn maze for just over 2 miles. If you or your dog is fatigued during the walk there are points of exit that you can use.

Can I volunteer at the event?

Yes, please contact Brother Wolf’s Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@bwar.org for more information about volunteering at this event.

Who can I contact with additional questions?

Please use our Contact Form to get in touch with Leah Craig Fieser, Brother Wolf’s Event Director.
